2/25/2023 0 Comments Obs studio recording laggy![]() !!!!!!! Multiple instances of when game capture can be laggy, but switching to display capture and it runs smooth with no lags (and opposite is the case as well) Switching back you can observe choppy motion. Using windows 11, high end pc => obs never even close to utilizing pc to its fullest, bios chipset driver nvidia driver up to dateĪlt tabbing seems to somewhat resync the game sometimes, so does starting recording, restarting obs (basically any action that kinda affects the interaction of obs and the game) Outside of this laggy moment, obs capturing everything correctly and smoothly No noticeable lag in game (buttery smooth) when its happening on preview and stream The only thing installed on streamign pc is steam discord epic games and chromeĪll Game runs perfectly 60 / 120 fps no fps drops / no frametime drops. Tried full reinstall of windows 11 from the scratch, using new installer file ( not inside the os option to make sure its perfectly clean) I tried disabling preview, switching monitors, turning off a single monitor, keeping obs on main monitor etc I tried switching on / off game mode / resizeable bar / admin mode / hags / both monitors are running 120 refreshed rates, all games vsync fps locked Sometimes it feels like perfomance degrades over the time, as if it starts occasionally missing a frame here and there and then it feels less smoother until it becomes quite obviously stuttery and then resyncs to smooth and perfect and repeats the cycle Stuttering clearly seen in the preview and it translates into recording / stream => no reported dropped frames recording or encoding lag. The game can be running completely fine for long period of time, or the stuttering can start right from the start The framerate of the game goes out of sync with obs, this happends quite randomly and periodically, and length of that period is non consistent and so are intervals between it. I use in game engine framerate counter + frametime, it never drops not by a tiny bit, i though it was pc fault Game runs 100% perfectly smooth but recording/ stream stutters for random period of times with random intervals inbetween, for majority of time its fine So before i get told that my settings or smth incorrect, ive spend countless hours on obs windows support with no one seeing anything wrong in mY settings. In case your low-end system or laptop is incapable of recording in 1080p, then consider lowering the resolution to 720p.For obs display non stuttering perfectly smooth image Current Behavior When using an abnormal native screen resolution then make sure to rescale your output to 1920x1080. Your NVENC recording might look great, but your GPU might start lagging when trying it out in-game. This option will in any case come down to your hardware, and I strongly advise you to make a test recording using both options while in-game. Set your encoder to NVENC, in case you’re using a powerful enough NVIDIA Graphics card, otherwise use x264 to utilize your processor to encode your recordings. mp4 as my Recording Format, as the file size remains low compared to other formats and it’s usable in every video editing software. ![]() In case you plan on making a lot of recordings, then I suggest using a file path in your storage partition with the most space available. In the Output tab, set the Output Mode to Advanced and in the Recording section, set the Type to Standard, set the Recording Path to where you want your recordings to be saved. Depending on which sources you use, they can have a big impact on your system’s performance. Follow the instructions below OBS Studio Output SettingsĪfter opening up OBS Studio, make sure to reduce the amount of sources per scene to a minimum. ![]()
